Transition

Departure
      imagining rainbows
      in the blackened sky
      of a city
      burned by its own dreams,
      i smile secretly
      and remember
      that yesterday i floated
      in the streets
      graced
      by your laughing glide;

      this time
      there will be no pain
      there will be no hate

      only monochromes
      of luminous brown
      and a beating heart.
